I remember last fall after the wheat had been planted and the rain scarce, I walked out my back door and got an overwhelming feeling to pray for the wheat. I don’t know why, but I just felt like I needed to. So me and Grady walked hand in hand out into the field and we prayed.

We thanked God for this life we get to live on the farm, and his many blessings that are always abundant. We thanked him for his provision, love, and grace. We prayed that we would get the moisture we need and that come next summer we would have a bountiful harvest and could give all the glory to God. We did that many days last fall. Sometimes it was my idea and sometimes Grady would say “momma, I wanna go pray in the wheat”. I don’t know that it was our prayers that helped this wheat, but I can say that this harvest is bountiful, and that all glory is going to God!

We aren’t even a week into harvest, but the fields we have cut have done better than we imagined and it’s amazing how much different the atmosphere is when the wheat is good!

It’s always a little hard to go right into these crazy hours and not get to see Jake as much, but boy those moments we do get turn into treasured memories. This is what this life is about. Family. Jake always says that it would mean absolutely nothing without someone to pass it on to. To work so hard day in and day out for something just so maybe your children will have the same love and passion for it as you. That’s amazing to me!

These days may be long, hard, and at times lonely, but they are filled with love, learning, and hopefully some grace from this momma. I didn’t grow up on a farm, but I got here as fast as I could. Seven years later I still have to make adjustments, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
